Cerec Single Visit CAD/CAM Crowns

Cerec Single Visit Crowns use state of the art technology to repair and protect your teeth.  This technology was recently featured on the TV show, The Doctors.

Crowns or “caps” are precisely fabricated pieces of porcelain that protect your natural teeth from fracturing.  Teeth that are at risk of breaking are those with large fillings and those that have had previous root canals.  When these teeth crack or split, they can be very difficult to repair and often have to be removed.  Therefore, teeth that are at high risk of fracturing should be protected with crowns to prevent them from breaking.

Traditionally, crowns were made off-site in a dental laboratory.  This involved two appointments - one for preparing and taking impressions of your teeth, and another two weeks later for placing the crown.

Cerec CAD/CAM technology allow us to fabricate your crowns while you wait.    First, digital images of your teeth are taken.  These images are used instead of the traditional putty impression materials which can be uncomfortable, messy, and trigger your gag reflex.  The digital images are transformed into a 3-dimensional computer model on which your crowns are designed.  Your crowns are then milled in our office and are ready to be cemented.

How does this technology benefit you?

  1. 1.Crowns can be prepared, milled, and cemented within about an hour, instead of over a period of two weeks.

  2. 2.Since the crown will be cemented right away, there is no need for a temporary crown which can sometimes break and cause gum irritation.

  3. 3.Digital images are used instead of messy putty impressions.

  4. 4.Crowns are more precisely fitted and will therefore last longer.

  5. 5.Cerec Single Visit CAD/CAM Crowns are the same fee as traditional crowns.
