| Are amalgam
(silver) fillings safe? |
| |
Amalgam has been used as a filling material
for almost 200 years. The is no scientific evidence that
there is a health risk, unless you have an allergy. In the
last 10 years, tooth colour composite fillings are gaining
popularity, as the fillings closely match the colour of the
teeth. We do NOT recommend routinely removing our patients'
good amalgam fillings and replacing them with composite
fillings. We believe this is unnecessary, and may result in
more problems. We are using more composite filling materials
when needed. The choice of filling materials is a personal
matter between you and your dentist. Please talk to us about
it. |

| Can dentist
write off insurance co-payment? |
| |
It is against the law (insurance fraud) for
you or your dentist to conspire to avoid paying the
co-payment. This practice is considered professional
misconduct and a dentist can lose his/her license for it. By
law, a claim made to an insurance company must be an
accurate description of services rendered and fees charged.
This is why you are required to sign the claim form. Your
dentist is required by law to do due diligent and collect
the co-payment from you. |

| I have
dental insurance. How does that work with my account
payment? |
| |
We welcome dental insurance. We'll assist
you to get reimbursed from your dental plan. Your insurance
coverage is a contract between you and your insurance
company, not between your insurance company and us. We treat
you as a patient based on your interest. As a patient you
authorized us for treatment, and your are responsible for
payment. We have many
financial options available to you. |

| When do I
bring my child for his/her first dental visit? |
| |
We like to see your child before he/she has a
dental problem. The first visit should be fun and foster a
trusting relationship. It is a show-and-tell get acquainted
visit. Your child needs to know that we are there to help him/her
before your child needs dental work. Generally speaking, when a
child has all the primary teeth in place, usually around age 2, is a
good time for first visit. Depending on the child, first cleaning
and check up appointment can follow later.
